Cedar City put on its best bib and tucker and dis- i played the American flag in honor of the 1 junketing legislators and Lincoln's birth- I day. , i The junketers looked over the branch of j the Agricultural college today. They ar- j rived about noon, partook of a banquet ; spread at the school and then talked to ; the 1:100 men and women here in atten- j dance upon the farmers' roundup and i housekeepers' conference. Principal Roy j F. Homer introduced the speakers, Elmer G. Peterson, president of the Agricultural j college; George W. Decker, representative j from Iron county; Senator William Seeg"- I miher. Senator Joseph Chez, Senator Rich- j ard Strinham, Senator George H. Dern, ! Representative Cardon of Cache and Rep- j resentative Hammond of Grand. 1 j Senator Stringham acted as the per- i sonal representative of the governor and I j brought a message of good will, not only I i to the school, but to the whole people of southern Utah. All the speakers assured the roundup at- I tendants and the school officials that they I would do all in their power to promote the I interests of the college and of all south- j em Utah. j The trip to Cedar City'from Lund was a j practical demonstration to the legislators j of the need of good roads. The road was bad in spots, but for most of the way the automobiles glided along" at thirty miles an hour and in the clear, crisp air and the bright sunshine furnished a splendid example of Utah's marvelous climate. The farmers' roundup and housekeepers' conference will close February 15, after sessions lasting- a week. After the speaking programme the legfs- I la tors made a hastv inspection of the in- stitution and left about 4 o'clock for Lund, I a railway station on the Salt Lake Route, j on their return trip to the capital. They I will arrive in Salt Lake City at 6 o'clock 1 Tuesday morning. |
