Show RESERVOIR LAND IS RESTORED TO PUBLIC Congressman Smith Secures Passage of Bill of Importance to the State of Idaho. Special to The Tribune. ! j WASHINGTON, Feb. 12. Congressman Smith has secured the passage of the bill restoring to the public domain land donated to the city of Twin Falls for ! reservoir purposes, which the municipality j abandoned as not being suitable for the purpose. He also secured the passage of the bill ! introduced by Senator Borah to simplify I the procedure in the issuing of patents anil final water right certificates for lands I in reclamation projects, by requiring that ; all payments shall be made at the time j of final proof instead of at the time of i the Issuance of patent. The enactment of this law will meet a difficulty which has confronted the interior department in many cases and avoid much unnecessary delay In conducting correspondence. The j enactment of the bill was strongly rec-: rec-: ommended by the secretary of the in- terior, ; I The house also passed a senate bill pro-. pro-. viding that homesteaders under the gen-i gen-i eral law who have acquired title to less than 1fi0 acips through the homestead law i shall be permitted to take land under the enlarged homestead act to the extent of, twice the amount of which they would be i entitled under the general law permitting additional entries. This will enable homesteaders home-steaders on reclamation projects who have! proved up on 40, SO or 12D acres the prlv- ! tlege of entering land under the enlarged 1 homestead act to the amount of twice the number of acres remaining under their1 original entry. j |
