Show WESTERN SOMBRERO COMffi RESPECT James H. Moyle Tells of Change in East Since the Election. Eastern politicians doff their hats in deep respect when a western sombrero looms above the horizon a custom which has become well established since November No-vember 7. James H. Moyle, Democratic national committeeman from Utah, who has returned re-turned from an extended visit in the east, is authority for the assertion. "The November election marked the dawning of a new era for the west in the politics of the nation," Mr. Moyle declared de-clared enthusiastically last night. "Of course, the popularity of the western west-ern man in eastern political circles depends de-pends upon the complexion of the politics. President Wilson and all Democratic leaders of the east are deeply grateful to the west, especially toward Utah, which was believed to be in the rock-ribbed Re-i Re-i publican column. "Heretofore the west has not been appreciated ap-preciated by the east, especially in politics. poli-tics. It la different now. Even the Republicans Re-publicans are deeply interested in the i west, and many of them, as well as the Democratic leaders, speak very respectfully respect-fully of this section of the country and express a desire to pay us a visit. They have begun to realize that we really are an important section of the United States and that New York and one or two other eastern states no longer dictate the policy of the nation." Mr. Moyle expressed the opinion that Frank K. Nebeker stands an excellent chance of receiving the appointment to the appellate bench. While in Washington Mr. Moyle was invited in-vited to attend a meeting ot the finance committee of the Democratic national organization. or-ganization. The indications are. he said, that little difficulty will be experienced -In raising the money necessary to offset the deficit in the campaign fund. Mr. Moyle called upon President Wilson and various members of the cabinet dur- ; ing his visit to the capital. The president, he said, was deeply interested in the west and expressed a desire to visit this sec- I tion at the earliest opportunity. Besides I Washington, Mr. Movie visited Chicago while away and attended the annual! meeting of the directors of the National Wool 'Warehouse Storage company and attended the International Livestock show. |
