Show ARIZONA ELECTION CASE IS APPEALED Governor Hunt, Defeated in Motion, Takes Case to the Supreme Tribunal for Action. PHOENIX. Ariz. Dec. IS. Superior Judge Stanford today sustained Governor-elect Governor-elect Thomas Campbell's motion to quash the contest proceedings inaugurated by Governor Hunt. The court held that because be-cause the secretary of state has nver , issued a certificate of election to Campbell the court has no official knowledge cf the ' result of the election, and is, therefore,, without jurisdiction. Governor Hunt immediately took an appeal ap-peal to the supreme court and it is expected ex-pected the matter will be taken up there tomorrow by stipulation. Meantime the ballot inspection is suspended. Unless a decision is reached before Jan- ' uarv 1. or a court ordfr is secured, it is probable Governor-elet Campbell and Governor Hunt will claim possession of the office. On the fa ft of the certified returns Campbell is elected by a piuraiitv of thirtv voles. Governor Hunt claims irregularities ir-regularities in counting the ballots. |
