IS- The inability of several sev-eral city officials to furnish off-hand, or from memory, many facts eoin-crning the municipal finaii'-es caused a continuance to bf taken today in the mandamus proceedings pro-ceedings of the fohimerctal National bank against Carl Allison, city treasurer, to force the payment of J.'iJ.fXiO worth of 19ir, warrants held by ihe bank. The case was taken up before Judge J. A. Howell in the district court this morning morn-ing and will be resumed tomorrow morn-in morn-in z. Judge Unwell issued the writ of mandate man-date citing the city treasurer lo appear in court when Mr. Allison refused payment pay-ment of about ?:t:!.0ro worth of' warrants held bv the bank on the grounds that t lie re was not sufficient money in the general fund at the present time. As the situatron stands. Liie present city commissioners contend that they do not repudiate the warrants held by the bank, but assert that the previous administration administra-tion should not have issued warrants in excess of its 101" revenues. |
