In deference to the visitors, the routine rou-tine business of the meeting was deferred de-ferred until the spokesmen of the delegation dele-gation had been heard and a response voiced by Mayor TV. In responding to the appeal made to the commission. Mayor Ferry assured the citizens present that t he commission realized the need of a park on the west side. He said further that Commissioner Herman H. Green has been urging upon the commission for months past the need of one. "The question of ways and means to provide for a park on the west side, if possible, would doubtless have come up for consideration at the meeting of the budget committee in January, if you people peo-ple had not made this request," said Mavor Ferry. Mayor Ferry further explained to those present that few public improvements have their initiative with the commissioners, commis-sioners, most of them being undertaken in response to petitions from Interested property owners. Attorney E. W. Senior, the Rev. A. V. Willev of the Burlington Baptist church and Principal J. T. Worlton of the Edison Edi-son school were the spokesmen for the delegation. The talks were brief and to the point. |
