Show CITY AND COUNTY FIXING TAX LEVY departmental heads of the city and county government are completing the figin-es which will result in the fixing of the tax levy for 1916. While no definite defi-nite figures are given out at this time it is expected that the tax levy of the city will be "fixed at (1 mills on" the dollar', dol-lar', this being against 13 mills of last vear. The county tax has not as vet been suggested, but it is believed that the total tax will not exceed 17 mills. The lowered tax is explained under the new valuation assessment. Under the new revenue law propertv is assessed as-sessed at its full cash value, while last year the assessment was made at about , 40 per cent of the property valuation. j |
