Berlin reports the British and French offensive north of the Somme river has failed to gain attackers much advantage. 2. South of river Somme, Berlin admits Germans withdrew to their second line. 3. British maintain heavy bombardment bom-bardment of German position at Thlepval. 4. London reports fighting about La Bolsselle and OvMlers particularly severe. The British have advanced slightly beyond La Bolsselle. 4. French advancing to east of Mereaucourt wood have captured Chapltre wood, Feuflieres and Heln. 6. -Paris reports French have advanced ad-vanced beyond second German line and captured villages of BuscourJ and Flaucourt. 7. Paris reports .French have taken second German line and occupy Es-trees Es-trees and Belloy-en-Santerre.
