Show GUARDSMEN BEGIN ROUTINE OF CAMP LIFE AND DRILL SAN ANTONIO. Tex., July 6. From one end of the border to the other, the thousands of national guardsmen today settled down to tlio routine of camp life and drill. Reports from officers commanding com-manding border stations referred to the movements of Mexican troops, but told of no raids or hostile action bv the de faeto government troops, and officers at headquarters here, In view of the apparent appar-ent passing of the crisis in the American-Mexican relations, were inclined to regard the big" movement of guardsmen guards-men as much-needed maneuvers. Advices to the quartermaster department depart-ment today told of the arrival without material delay of troop trains at designated desig-nated stations, and General Funston contemplated a border army that was growing In thousands dally. The reserve force that is being concentrated concen-trated here was Increased today by the arrival of the Eighth Illinois, a negro regiment. |
