Show RUSSIANS FIND WEATHER TOO HOT IN MESOPOTAMIA LONDON, July 7. 2:55 a. m. A Pctro-grad Pctro-grad dispatch to the Dally Teleqrnph savS that the Russians have fallen back almost eighty miles in the Ballad region. The dispatch Fays that the pressure of the Turkish force was only one of the reasons which caused the retirement of the Russians. The Turks are said to have gathered a great army to contest tlie Russian advance. Among these y troops was the force originally JeetlneLw, for the invasion of Egypt, troops which had been in Bulgaria and an army of 13iV 000 men which was withdrawn from the Saloniki front. The principal reason, however, given for the retreat of the Russians is that the intense heat in Mesopotamia makes campaigning very difficult at this time of tho year. It is stated that the Russians Rus-sians are planning to remain in the coolness cool-ness of the hills until climatic conditions make the resumption of the advance expedient. |
