Show REWARD POSTED TO STOP CANYON FIRES City Commissioner Shearman Shear-man Determines to Protect Pro-tect Watershed. As a fire prevention in the city canyons, can-yons, which are the watersheds of Salt Lake City, V. H. Shearman, commissioner commis-sioner with jurisdiction over the water supply and waterworks, announced yesterday yes-terday that a standing reward of $25 will "be posted for information which will lead to the apprehension of any peraon starting fires in the canyons. In the city commission meeting' yesterday jrr. Shearmnn recalled the fires of last year in Parley 'e, Emigration and City Creek canyons, and stated that this year renewed precautions are being taken against a repetition of the danger to the city's water supply. The necessity for sncn precaution was accentuated by a fire which blazed Wednesday night in Big Cottonwood oanyon. It has not been determined whether the proffered reward can be made from the public funds, but in the event that this cannot legally be done, Mr. Shearman Shear-man stated that he would personally offer of-fer the reward. C. F.
