At the con- ' elusion of the services the body was j placed in the vault of Argenta lodge "'" No. 3, F. & A. II., in the Masonic tern-;'" pie. At 3 o'clock this afternoon the' ' '' body will be committed to the grave hi the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery, j .. Great Throng Attends. V Hundreds of persons who had known and loved William Bowen in his life- . r-' time, were unable to gain admission to the church during the services, so great-- ' was the throng in attendance. A quartette composed of John D. Speneer, George D. Pyper, Horace S. '' Ensign and H. G. Whitney sang "I Need r- ' Thee Every Hour," at the opening of the services, and the Bev. Mr. Sirapkin offered the prayer and read from'theJ-:: Scriptures. The quartette than sacj '-' ' "O Love Divine.'' l- Funeral Oration. The funeral sermon was then delit-ered delit-ered by the Eev. Mr. Simpkin, who said"" in part: .. , Shocked: with a grief half tragic 1v:; in its spring, so swift was his go- I T; ing, a multitude turns wet of eye, 1 pained of heart to this spot and this experience, for there has passed from us one of our biggest i:U and our best. i J It was characteristic of him that having given his best to the business busi-ness to which he owed proud loyal-ty, loyal-ty, he was eager to give to the -.: commonwealth and to the city all he had of strength and courage to -t bestow. ; To the constructive club life he j gave himself eagerly and his su- I r perior counsel was as valued as ins ,j-;, great energy, and in the Coiunier- v cial club, -which delighted to honor 1- him. he will be sadlv missed. 1-- To the Y. M. C. A., brought hv unhappy circumstances to insolvency, insol-vency, he was the anchor in its storm, the hope of its rehabilitation, rehabilita-tion, and at our last long lueetin? T he was delighted in planning for the inauguration in 1916 of an ao- . tive campaign of service for the youth of the churches of this city i and those of the whole community. And we, hearing from memory's hall hhs voice, calling like a happy boy in the greeting of life let us take up each our share of the sur-rendered sur-rendered burden and live in his J spirft of cheer, gentleness and love.
