Show Ross Princess Is Deprived of German Title Morganatic Wife of Grand Duke Paul Alexandro-vitch Alexandro-vitch Gets Order. Special Cable to The Tribune. BERLIN, Nov. 20. Petrograd papers report that the czar has ordered the . morganatic wife of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovitch, his only living liv-ing uncle, to drop her German title of Countess von Hohenfelsen. She will be known in the future as Princess Palei and tho same name has been given to her children. The newly created princess had a somewhat adventurous career. Her maiden mai-den name w;as Olga Valerianowna Kar-nowitch, Kar-nowitch, and when Grand Duke Paul married her in 1902 she was known as Mme. Pistohlkers. Her intrigue with the uncle of the ruler created a scandal scan-dal in Russian court circles. After her marriage, which took place in Italy, Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria conferred con-ferred her now abolished title upon her. Grand Duke Paul, who was banished from Russia by his nephew on account of his "mesalliance," mostly lives in Paris, where he spends large sums of money. His first wife, tne Grand Duchess Alexandra Georgiowna, was a sister of King Constantino of Greece. She died in 1S91, two years after her marriage, and left two children, Grand Duke Dimitri and Grand Duchess Maria Pawlowna. The latter was married to Prinoe William of Sweden, but was divorced di-vorced from her husband by the ozar in July, 1914. |
