Men prominent in the raciug game visited here summer after eummer, and some of the best known officials in the sport were on the payroll of the Butte Jockey club. No sooner had the Montana legislature of 1915 passed a bill making racing with betting illegal than H. I. Wilson, head of the Butte Racing association, declared de-clared himself through with the game in this state. A day or two ago the affairs of the Butte Racirig association were wound up and the eighty-eight acres inside in-side the inclosure will "he platted and cut up into building lots. The district is being rapidly built up. There a;e many buildings on the race track grounds, including the grandstand, a big pavilion and stables. Much of the lumber lum-ber can be utilized for building purposes. |
