The cost of production of even a short one-act playlet is a matter which is not fully realized aud appreciated by one not familiar with affairs behind the sjecnes The secunu of moie than one hundred separate items by way of "properties," the painting of new scenery, scen-ery, the rchcarsiug of several of the highest salaried performers of the Garrick Gar-rick company, means an expenditure in four figures' that would surprise the layman. After a strenuous two weeks tho new sketch is ready for its premier to- night. So snccessml has. been Mrs. Pnlmer's efforts in bringing the playlet to an actual accomplishment that it is understood that several gratifying offers of-fers have already been recoived by her for her sketch, presumably for production pro-duction as a headline vaudeville feature next season. "The Danger Signal" will be played as a curtain-raiser to "The Marriage of Kitty" at the Garrick all this week. i |
