Show BUSY 1 PREPARING FOB MEilL My Patriotic Citizens Asked to Give the Old Soldiers Auto Ride. Tho local post.B of tho G. A. R. and tho various auxiliary organizations of loyal women, are busy making arrangements arrange-ments for tho proper observanco of Memorial day Thursday, Ma" 30. Manv of t.ho old soldiers are too infirm to march and the usual parade will be dispensed with. It is planned for tho organizations to meet at the G. A. R. (Odd Fellows) hall in Market street at o'clock in the morning of that day and proceed to tho two cemeteries. Last year tho good people of tho city. owning automobiles, placed enough of them at. the disposal of the G. A. R. members to convoy them from .ho hall to tho cemeteries, and it is hoped that they will do the samo this vear. All that is asked is that thevwill convey the "old boys" and tho women to the cemeteries and leave them thero and they can use the street cars to return re-turn after holding their services for the dead. It is thought that there will be about 200 persons to go. Colonel M- M, Kaighn is chairman of the transportation committoo and anv persons owning automobiles dn-sirinrr dn-sirinrr to assist tho Grand Army on that dav can communicate with him t the United Statetj land office in the federal building. |
