Show TOOELE Ml W! IS DOING TIGS Road Commissioner Russell Makes Great Showing; Puts Smelter Town on Auto Map. When medals are passed around to the men employed by the state in building build-ing good roads, to tho men who get results frpm their work in the shape of roads, who give the people real value for tho monoy spent, A. Russell, road commissioner of Tooele county, is bound to bo near the top of tho list of men who do things. Last summer Tho Tribuno pathfinder mapped many of tho roads in Tooele county, and found tho road leading from the point of the mountain to Stockton, through the town of Tooele, one of the worst stretches of sand roads in the state. Last Sunday Chairman S. D. ICvans of tho Commercial club good roads committee took a party of friends including The Tribune automo-bilo automo-bilo editor, over the samo roads, and in place of tho hub-deep sand, a perfect per-fect boulevard greeted tho automobile party. This romarkablo change in roads is duo to tho excellent work of Mr. Rus-solJ, Rus-solJ, who is a firm believer in tho saying say-ing that common senso is a good thing to use along with state and courjty money in building good roads. ,ludg-ing ,ludg-ing from tho results and the inonoy spent, it indicates that good sense is tho, grcatost asset Tooele county has in lis road construction. As a result Tooele is now on the automobile map as far as local Sunday automobilo trips are concerned. Only one bad stretch of road is encountered on tho trip, and .that is in S'alt Lako county, just before be-fore Mr. Russell's boulovard is met. Mr. Russell informed tho party last Sunday that not quite ten thousand dollars had been spent in the work so tar, and that ho was happv to stale ho had another ten thousand at his command, and before that is gone ho will have the road complotcd'to Stockton. Stock-ton. Mr Russell has been converted to the King drag, and uses it after every rain. As a result his new roads are being kept up and are in good shape at all times. |
