The membership committee of the Commercial club at a meeting yesterday yester-day received and favorably acted upon fifteen new applications for entranco into the club under tho campaign rules. Tho new recruits approved by tho committee com-mittee for membership aro tho direct result of tho second skirmish of the campaign which is now on. Incidentally, tho smoker comraitteo yesterday decided to give a big olub smoker and entertainment Thursday evening, May fl, commencing at 8 o'clock. The second skirmish of the campaign for now members ends that evening, and the affair will virtually be in compliment to the three competing com-peting armies. A specinl foature will he four amateur ama-teur wrestling bouts, which will be arranged ar-ranged by W. L. McLeod, W. M. Mc-Rea, Mc-Rea, Malcolm McAllister and E. It. Hill formiug the subcommittee in charpe. It is the intention to secure a number of vaudeville acts, and Fred C. Graham has been placed in charge of this feature. The music committee of tho club will arrange for an orchestra-It was definitely settlod yesterday that Haj'dn'a masterpiece in oratorio. "The Creation,'' would be reproduced in the &alt Lako thcator, May 15, under the diroction of Squire Coop. The music mu-sic committee of tho club is backing the effort and has assumed all risks of financial loss. The prices will rango from 25 cents to $1.30. |
