That the house committee on public lands intends in-tends to bo very deliberate about reporting re-porting the Lever bill to authorize leasing of the public land for grazing graz-ing purposes, if indeed it will Toport such a measure at nil this session, was indicated at the hearing toda3 Tho chairman read a telegram from Governor Gov-ernor Spry of Utah, who spoko for tho executive committee of public land convention at Salt Lako City, urging tho committee to tnke no action on tho Lever measure until tho other side had been given opportunity to bo hoard. The chairman was authorized to as-8uro as-8uro Governor Spry that the committee commit-tee contemplated no immediate action and that all would bo hoard, Secretary Tomlinson of Denver completed com-pleted his statement this morning before, be-fore, the committee and was followed by Forester Graves and Ohiof of Grazing Graz-ing Potter, Both told of the leasing aystoni now in practico on national forests for-ests and urged the enactment of the Lever bill for all public grazing lands. Tho hearings were adjourned until Tuesday, when Ovorton Price, for the conservationists, will bo heard. |
