Evans, a pioneer of Utah, died early Friday morning at his residence resi-dence In the sixteenth ward, lie came to Utah in lSfil and through his kindly and genial nature won a host of friends. Mr. Evans was born in Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Carmarthen-shire, South Wales, August 12. 1S2G. where he became a convert to the Mormon Mor-mon faith In its early days. 'For a long time he was at the head of the old ehureh blacksmith shop, which from pioneer days until recently stood at the head of North Temple street. At the recent old folks' festival he met many of his old friends and greatly enjoyed the reunion. The funeral services will be hold from the sixteenth ward meeting house Sunday afternoon. Mr. Evans is survived by one daughter and six sons: Mrs. Walter C. Brown, William IT.. Jonathan Jon-athan W.. Oscar Y Hamlet, and Stirling, of Salt Lake City, and Thomas L.. of Provo, |
