A subcommittee, consisting con-sisting of Fisher Harris, Judge E. F. Colborn. IT. Vanco Lane and H. Jj. A, Culmer, was appointed to draw up a tentative programmo for the ontertaiu-ment ontertaiu-ment and report at tho next meeting tho full committco to bo held at the Commercial club next Wednesday ovon-ing, ovon-ing, J11I3- 14. At that time it is expected that a general plan will be arranged, subject to further elaboration in details at a future time. It is thought that beyond a parade of citizens of the city, which will moot the retinue of tho Wizard a.t tlie entrance to one of the cannons of the city, and a reception at the Com-j Com-j morcial club, with a number of addresses. ad-dresses. IsTo attempt will be made this .year to make a showing, but it is hoped that tho interest aroused will enable the committee to arrange for a grand celebration in honor of the Wizard Wiz-ard next year on .July and .several subsequent days, so that tho interests centering in the great holiday of the state may be taken advantage of for tho entertainment of the creat Wizard. May Bo Made Annual Affair. Il is hoped to have tho festival made an annual affair, and to celebrate not only the greatness of tho city and state, but tho coming of tho pioneers as well. When completely arranged, the festival will take a form similar to the IMardi Gras at New Orcleans, tho festival of the Veiled Prophet at St. Louis and the Aksarben at Omaha. At tho first celebration on August 9, a number of features have been promised by those interested in the undertaking, which will doubtless attract a great deal of attention and furnish a good start for a larger and moro effective display next, summer. At tho coming meet, next Wednesday Wednes-day evening, it is hoped that thcro will be a large attendance, in order that the ncccssarv number of committees maj" be appointed and affairs put into shape for carrying out a successful entertainment en-tertainment of tho Wizard this summer and preparing for even greater display next year. |
