But It was a question as to which, those who had seen the play twenty year ago, or those who saw It for the first tlmo Mondny night, enjoyed It the most. Mnny of the audience who had laughed at tho old comedy twenty years ago laughed just us heartily last night as they did twenty or more years ago. For a time tho old favorites fa-vorites were Just a little bit stiff, with tho exception of John D. Spencer, who appeared ap-peared Just as much at homo on the stiigo as he docs In a business office Toward the last end of the second act tho old members of the company got down to business and before the third act was ended they were back to the days of twenty years ago and had the audience coming their way. The new members of tho cast showed decided talent In a number of Instances. First honors among tho new members was divided by Mao Alder and Owen Knowlton. Knowl-ton. both of whom did excellent work and showed decided talent. Elliot Claw-son, Claw-son, D. W. James, Jr.. and Miss Whitney handled small parts In a way to bring out the approval of tho audience. A feature fea-ture of the evening's entertainment was tho piano solos between acts by Spencer Clawson and Miss Marybello Kraft. "Confusion" "Con-fusion" will be presented again at Whitney Whit-ney hall this evening. The bill at the Orpheum drew capacity houses both at the matinee and at Monday Mon-day night's performance. The novelty transformation scene In "The Musical Blacksmith" Is worth the price of ud-mlsslon. ud-mlsslon. i The old folks' committee announces that the management of the Grand theater has tendered a free matinee entertainment entertain-ment to the uged residents of Salt Lako City, and to the widows of any age on Thursday. January 7. The doors will bo open at 1:30 and the performance commences com-mences an hour later. Tho play, "Outwitted "Out-witted by Two." and a number of vaudeville vaude-ville acts will be presented, and an enjoyable en-joyable tlmo ls promised. On this occasion oc-casion the badges Indicating the age will be the passports to admission. All who arc 70 and up to SO wear red ribbons, SO and up to 90, blue rosette, and 00 and over a while ribbon. Xo children will be admitted, ad-mitted, while no badges ure required for widows. The Swedish National Skanson Dancers are proving iu strong drawing magnet at the Grand theater and the largo audience Monday evening enjoyed every minute of their unique dancing. Thu other four vaudeville acts are the best yet offered at the Grand, while "A Man Who Dared," a five-act drama by the Scott company. Is one of the best offerings the Scott company com-pany has yet given patrons of tho Grand. A family matinee Is announced for Wednesday afternoon. tr At the Colonial another capacity house greeted the "Flower of tho Ranch" on Monday evening. -The music Is tuneful and the play a good one. It will go again tonight. The Lyrli theater Is living up to Its high standard In tho production of the bill of this week, for the pictures are notable, These are "In Bonduge," "The Tinder Box. fho Helping Hand" and "Sports of all the World."
