One of H the largest and most harmonious Indian jH councils ever held on the Flathead res- jH crvatlon has come to a close. Tho council was called by Capl. Thomcs IH Downs, special Indian agent, who has jH had charge of the enrollment of the In- ll dlans rolatlve to the opeiilng of the res- IH crvatlon for the purpose of holding con- H sultatlon with them regarding enroll- jH ment of persons claiming rights of en- IH There were in the council seventeen tm representatives, all of the five different IH tribes being represented by one chief IH each and several head men. About two H hundred Indians from all the different jH localities nnd reservations were present. IH The Indians declared they approved IH of the provisions of the bill opening th M reserve. H |
