Confirmation of tho report that $50,000,000 of bonds had beon placed In New York for the complotlon of the Wcslorn Pacific railway botween Salt Lako City and San Francisco has boon received here in a telegram from E. T. Joffery, president of the Donvor & Rio Grando and a director of the Western West-ern Pacific, to J. B. Andrews, assistant to Vice-President Charleo H. Schlacks of tho Denver & Rio Grande. Tho message further says that tho placing of tho bonds Insures tho building of tho road as rapidly as possible Tho telegram from President JefTcry follows: "NEW YORK, April 21. 1903. J B Andrews. Assistant to Vice-President Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, Denver, 1 Colo.: I hnvo closed with thrco banking llrms, Blair & Co.. Solomon & Co, and Rend & Co., for financing Western Pacific, Pa-cific, and I signed the contract on behalf of that company. It covers tho sale to the bankers of $50,000,000 of Wcgtern Pacific Pa-cific bonds, and Insures tho building of the road as rapidly as possible. , E. T. JEFFERY." |
