Show STUDENTS OF MUSIC WIN HIGH PRAISE For several years past the piano recitals re-citals by the pupils of Miss Gratia Flanders have been among the most delightful of the musical events of the city. Last night's recital at the First Congregational church was no. exception excep-tion to the' rule, the great audience attesting at-testing the popularity "of teacher and pupils, while the rapt attention and the hearty applause bespoke the appreciation apprecia-tion of the high class music rendered. Those taking part In last night's programme pro-gramme were the advanced pupils of Miss Flanders, and a talented lot of musicians they are. Their Interpretation Interpreta-tion of tho difficult numbers was admirable ad-mirable and the execution in every Instance In-stance wcll-nlght faultless. The numbers num-bers for two pianos, given by the Flanders Flan-ders quartette and by other pupils were especially fine and called forth great applauBC. Among thOBe taking part In last night's programme were Miss Flanders, Miss Geneve Ellerbeck, Miss Stella Cohn, MIsb Miriam Brooks, Miss I Elsie Cohn, Mrs. Harry Ganz, Miss Edna Coatcs, Miss Ethel Dofllemyrc, Mrs. John W. Christy. Miss Judith Evans, Miss Irma Watson, Miss Pearl Rothschild. Miss Agatha Berkhoel was the soloist solo-ist of the evening, and her singing was, as ever, a charming feature of the programme. pro-gramme. She sang "The Lass With the Delicate Air" CDr. Arne), "Love's Confidence" (Helen Gilmore), "In Summer Sum-mer Time" (German) and "Roses After Rain," the latter two being especially beautiful and well suited to bring out the richness of Miss Berkhoel's voice. |
