Nevertheless, the Davis Racquet Club is ready to begin a 1 Tennis enthusiasts. The Am tennis season will L 1 ara be here. The members then voted to pursue a vigorous tennis program this year without affiliating af-filiating with "match play." This means they will not utilize "match play" classifications clas-sifications or tournament pairings. They will develop their own tournament play. It means they will utilize all of the $5 membership dues within the club for publicity, notification, trophies, clinics, etc. - ANYONE 16 and over is in. . vited to participate in the Davis Racquet Club tennis program this year by sending new season for those over 16. On the court are, 1 to r, Jon and Shirley O'Dell and Shirley Cushing. in the annual membership dues of $5 to either of the tournament directors, Shirley Cushing, 1583 S. Davis Blvd., Bountiful, or Ron Gardner, 783 E. 1825 S., Bountiful. This money should be sent in by April 10. Do not confuse the Davis Racquet Club with the newly proposed Davis County Match Play Club which is now soliciting memberships mem-berships for table tennis, tennis, ten-nis, etc. THE FIRST round of tournament tour-nament play will be a round- robin tournament beginning the week of April 19. You will be expected to play one match per week for five weeks with the week of May 24 reserved for makeup matches due to rain outs, etc. You must make contact with your opponent during the week scheduled, however, or a double forfeit will be declared. Matches will be best two of three sets or a proset as agreed upon at the start of the match. Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each group at the end of round one. PLEASE advise in your reply whether you wish to play in singles, doubles, or both. (Mixed doubles will be programmed for Round two of tournaments beginning June 7).
