Show SpSiGO EUillGIlOG Last summer Division of Wildlife Resources law enforcement en-forcement officers issued many warning tickets to fishermen who did not meet the "evidence of species" requirements on fish that had been cleaned for transporting trans-porting to home or camp. This year, according to John Nagel, Division Law Enforcement chief, warning signs are up at all fish cleaning stations and citations will be issued to those not complying with the regulation. THE 1976 Protected Aquatic Wildlife Proclamation states, "All fish possessed or transported must be kept in such a manner that species and numbers can be determined." deter-mined." Nagel said that the problem is a frequently recurring one that is most prominent in the Lake Powell area. It is due, he said, to the fact that it is a large area with high fishing success and the types of fish that lend themselves to filleting. "If fishermen will leave a patch of skin one inch square on each fillet, or a skinned fish for that matter, the problem can be alleviated. All that's required is just enough to allow identification of the species and that the fish be in such a condition that the number of fish can be determined," Nagel summarized. NAGEL also indicated that anglers could expect io be checked by conservation officers at road blocks, at cleaning stations or on the lake. |
