Show t " J 1 ' , ' - - ' J ' it- M V TROPHIES This weekend was the highlight of the whole year for the Viewmont Vykettes as thev participated in the Inter In-ter mount ai n Drill Team Competition hosted in Idaho Falls There they won the first place trophy in the smali team division. THE VYKETTES had put in an extreme amount of work ( the past week with 6 a.m. practices and also after school practices. Deserving every bit of it, the student-body student-body officers gave them an early morning breakfast on Friday instead of the intended practice. The Vykettes left from Viewmont at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and had a four hour drive to their destination. They unpacked in the Stardust Star-dust Motel and were served a steak dinner in the banquet room. AFTER dinner, they went to the evening performance and supported the Bountiful Mandonelles as they marched. Saturday morning, the parade was cancelled so the Vykettes psyched themselves up for the afternoon performance. perfor-mance. After they performed they received a great audience response and the girls felt very confident and excited about the drill. WITH THEIR evening performance, per-formance, the girls were a little nervous and tense as they arrived at the gym just minutes before they were to perform. As the winners were being announced, one had never seen a more nervous group of girls. When first place was Viewmont Vykettes have added more trophies to their collection. No present, Debbie Lynn, Michelle Hill, Mary Lynne Crandall, Marie Whitney. given to Viewmont High School, the Vykettes proved to be the most excited team there. THE GIRLS arrived back at Viewmont on Sunday. This year along with this first place trophy, the Vykettes took a second place trophy in the military division at the Utah competition hosted host-ed at Cyprus High on March 20. The girls also received the first place inspection trophy at Cyprus. THE VYKETTES have their annual 'Shower of Marches' coming up this month and invite everyone to come and spend an evening with (hem as they present all of their marches and trophies. This evening will conclude another great year for the Vykettes as they make their toast to Viewmont and the opportunities they received during 1975-76. |
