Show SWIM AWARD f Six years ago a scholarship ! was set up to honor t he i memory of Stephen Dee i Riley, a member of the J Bountiful High swim team, J who was killed in a auto- j pedestrian traffic accident on j Christmas Eve 19. I EACH year since that time J the Stephen Dee Riley Scholarship has been given to an outstanding swimmer from Bountiful High, who otherwise would not receive a scholarship to college. There are three cntenas by which a swimmer was chosen: a boy's value to the swim team, orior acceotance Present this week as Stephen Eiting received the Stephen Dee Riley swim award were I to r. Sue Crosby, vice president Alpha Phi; Ixiretta Husch. treasurer. Alpha Phi; Ada Stewart, president Xi Phi; Barbara Kiley, Preceptor Mu; Stephen Eiting; La villa Morns, treasurer and service chairman Xi Phi; DeLone B. Petersen, ways and means Xi Phi; Sharon Butters, Xi Alpha Gamma, and Jack F. Senninger, Bountiful High swim coach. to a college or university and financial need. THK scholarship averages about $200 and is given in the form of a tuition draft. Beta Sigma Phi chapters have played a big part in helping to finance the scholarship. The sorority has contributed as part of their service project each year. They include Xi Phi, Xi Alpha Gamma, Alpha Phi and honorary member Dora Trowbridge. THIS YEAR Coach Sen-ninger Sen-ninger has done a good job. Bountiful High took region and placed sixth at state. Past scholarships went to John Kenney, Matthew As-mus, As-mus, Kevin Sheffield. Sheldon McKay, Reed Quinn and Kirk Si u bos. THIS year's award will be given to Stephen Eiting. |
