A large ; audience enjoyed this fine ', I program of music and read- ; ings, with a patriotic theme. s j A special thanks is given to ; all the people who participat- ! : ed. i : ; IN THE absence of Mrs. I Muir who accidentally fell in ! her home and broke her left j arm, preparing to go to the 1 Center, Afton Heath, secre- tary, announced the program. I Coy Hayward assisted as master of ceremonies. The invocation was given by Ward Holbnwk with the pledge of allegiance to the flag led by Mr. Hayward. AN AMERICAN flag which had flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., was presented to the Center, along with a certificate from a U. S. official at the Capitol. Mrs. Muir had been This flag was presented to the Senior Citizens of South Davis this week as part of the Bicentennial celebration at the Golden Years Center. The flag flew over the nation's capitol on March 22, 1976. Displaying it, and the certificate, are Horace Beesley, left; Coy Hayward, right front, and Ward Holbrook, right back. instrumental in procuring this flag. The Golden Years Center orchestra played many numbers, many of them patriotic songs of our country and the audience sang them. Directors of the orchestra are Marvin Strong and Horace Beesley. MYRINTHA GILL presented present-ed a patriotic reading with appropriate music during the reading. This music was presented by the Beeslpy sisters, Marilyn Goodrich. Janice Hartvigsen, Carol Moon and Sherry Terry, accompanied ac-companied by Horace Beesley. Special numbers were sung by Norma Holbrook and young Jennifer Gill accompanied accom-panied by Christine Gill. CLOSING PRAYER by Mercy Ledingham. A large cake decorated in the patrio tic colors was served with punch. Contributions were given for the benefit of the building, fund. OF SPKCIAL importance is the fact that the monthly luncheon will be on April 8 instead of April 15 as has been announced. Please note this change for the regular luncheon at Viewmont High School. The school will be having hav-ing Easter vacation on April 15 kj |
