Show Achievement recognized Michael K. Wanner, Woods Cross High School senior, is one of more than 15,000 semifinalists to be named in the 1991 National Merit Scholarship Program. Michael is the only Woods Cross student to be chosen a semifinalist and qualify for more than $25 million in scholarships being offered to finalists nationwide. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wanner of Bountiful, a member of -he 'National High School Honor Society and holder of a 3.7 grade-point average during his three years in high school. In addition to being a member of the National Honor Society, Michael is also active in the school's Key Club, Math Club and Future Business Leaders of America Society. Following high school graduation, gradua-tion, Michael intends to continue his education in business engineering engineer-ing at the University of Colorado or UCLA. He has completed several advance ad-vance placement classes at Woods Cross, including those in English, calculus, European history and American history. He is a member of the school's baseball and crosscountry cross-country teams and enjoys skiing, water skiing, hiking, camping and off-road vehicle travel. More than one million students representing more than 19,000 high schools competed in the Merit Scholarship Program after becoming becom-ing eligible through pre-testing and having the sponsorship of their school principal. |
