Show luecireaftfiiojiin Msecd To Sttairtt Woods Cross City Recreation summer activities will begin in June and continue through July, under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Payne, recreation director, and assistants, as-sistants, Jamie Deneris and Jill Bishop. REGISTRATION for the summer program will continue today, Friday May 23, from 3-6 p.m. at City Hall and again on Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration has been conducted this week, so classes can be formulated and programs readied for the June beginning. Scheduled for Monday's beginning, June 9 are baton and drill, tennis and Softball programs. On Tuesday, Softball league games, swimming. Wednesday is Softball league play, swimming. Thursday Thurs-day is archery, tennis, drama and arts and crafts. Friday is women's tennis, junior Olympics track and field events, arts and crafts. BATON and drill are taught in age groups on Mondays by Jamie Deneris and Jill Bishop. Registration is necessary for these classes so that age group classification clas-sification and skills to be learned can be coordinated. The summer tennis program is going to be taught by Sherrie Holbrook, Sandra Smith and Ruth Payne. Classes for boys and girls, plus women, are planned. Boys on Monday, girls on Thursday. The classes for women will be taught on Friday. Each participant will need their own racket. Cost of registration is 50 cents for youngsters and $1 for women. SWIMMING will be taught at the Bountiful Indoor Pool. Ages are 5-15, boys and girls. Cost is $10 for the first child in each family and $7 for each additional. Transportation will be furnished. Fee must be paid at the time of registration. The swimming program will include 10 lessons, one each week for 10 weeks, taught either Tuesday or Wednesday morning. The girls Softball program is divided into two age groups. Elementary and junior high divisions. Anyone third-sixth grade is invited to participate. Cost is $1 and includes pre-clinics and league games played with Farmington, Center-ville, Center-ville, West Bountiful and North Salt Lake. The junior high league plays teams from Bountiful in addition to the above mentioned men-tioned cities. ARCHERY WILL be taught on Thursday Thurs-day at the city park by Sandra Smith. Boys and girls, age 10 and over are included in this program. Cost is 50 cents per summer season per person. Drama is added to the summer program this year. Boys and girls are included in this program, to be taught by Jamie Deneris and Jill Bishop, on Thursday. Thurs-day. ARTS AND crafts will be taught both morning and afternoon on Thursday and Fridays. Registration for this program will begin June 5 and 6, with projects to be included the day of registration. Cost is $4 per person. Norlan Walker is instructor and will include acrylic painting, plaster placques, tile work, scratch art, leather work as part of the summer program. Fee for this event should be paid to Mr. Walker at time of registration on June 5 and 6. JUNIOR Olympics will be held each Friday moming from 9-12. The program includes six track and field skills as well as distance running and relays. Highlight is the Davis County Junior Olympics to be held at Davis High School on July 3. Other highlights of the summer program are tennis tournaments, both city and county; Softball tournaments, archery tournaments, parades for baton and drill students, drama presentations, Lagoon day, bike hikes and fun for all. rsp |
