"teaiatard the ship. The Back Porch Gang, a quartet in the Bountiful Sweet Adelines, has recently won some competition honors. Members of the group include, top, Joan Nielsen; left, Ellen Hawkes; right, Jolene Johnson; John-son; bottom La Von Johnson. The Back Porch Gang are no strangers to performing and competing. They won the Utah State Fair Barbershop Quartet Quar-tet Contest two years running, 1973 and 1974. THEIR BASS, Joan Nielsen, holds a a record in the Western Wes-tern Region for winning three first place medals. The quartet quar-tet has entertained all over the intermountain area. The girls have won the right to travel to Seattle, Washing- ton, in CH;tober of this year, to compete in the International Quartet Championships of the Sweet Adelines. They are anxiously an-xiously looking forward to their cruise and to their international inter-national competition where they are hoping to win additional addi-tional honors for their state.
