Show Yoal Employment Aid The YES (Youth Employment Service) program will again be in full swing this year with the very important mission of finding jobs for the youth of Davis County according to Norman L. Beers, Davis County manager of the Department of Employment Security. THIS PROGRAM of finding part and full-time employment for the youth ages 14 to 21 is a combined effort of the Department of Employment Security, Davis County School District, and the Community Action Agency. The YES program was started in 1965 and has been in operation off and on throughout Davis County since that time. The operation this year will be the most complete one offered to date with an office to serve all students in each of the high schools of Davis County. STUDENTS are encouraged to register at the high school nearest them as soon as possible. One unique aspect of this . program is that the interviewers and job developers operating the program are high school students, who have been selected from each area. These student interviewers are anxious to help their fellow students find the employment needed to help them through the summer. THE VOCATIONAL coordinators in each school will provide the day to day supervision of the operation with technical tech-nical assistance being provided by Grant Bartschi from Employment Security and Terry Stayner from Community Action. Funds to pay the operating staff are provided by the county thru the CETA Work Experience program. During a time of high unemployment and a scarcity of entry level jobs, it is important that we do all within our power to assist our youth to find employment. Not only are we interested in helping them earn money, but there is a real need for our youth to have an early opportunity to team the value of work and how to apply their skills and abilities in a useful and beneficial way. MANY YOUTH will have the opportunity oppor-tunity to explore occupations that they might wish to pursue in the coming years," sayd Mr. Beers. It is felt that this is one program that can benefit the entire community both now and later, and it is a very useful part of the federal funds given to the county for work experience. We encourage students, parents, and employers to become involved in this worthwhile endeavor. Employers, especially, are encouraged to list any of the following job openings with the high schools in their area: sales clerk, stocking, general labor or farm labor, service station, yard care, baby sitting, typing or clerical, food service, custodial, or any other work which a qualified youth can handle.
