Show St. George CCC Camp Forty members of the company left for Las Vegas last Thursday They will build a camp on the outskirts out-skirts of the city for future occupancy oc-cupancy by a Division of Grazing camp. Lieutenant Moore of the Charlestown Mountain camp will be in charge of the construction and Bennie Taylor, leader, is to look after the local group. The boys will return to this camp when the work is completed. A home run by Gulliford in the 6th provided the winning margin for the camp over the Lions club in the game which decided the second half championship last Sunday evening. After giving the Lions a two run margin the boys staged an uphill battle. They tied up the score in the 5th and then punched home three more runs in the 6th. Joe Chizar, enrollee, was called home by the death of his mother last week. Joe took part in several boxing shows in Southern Utah and built up considerable reputation reputa-tion among the local boxing fans. Eighty-four members of the company were taken on a full day's visit to Zion National Park last week-end. After visiting aD available points and climbing some of the trails the boys returned with a real appreciation of the beauty and ruggedness of the canyon and peaks. Lawrence Boyd and Clarence Jones are attending life saving school at Fort Douglas during the present week. This school is conducted con-ducted annually by the CCC under the direction of the American Red Cross. Each company sends two representatives and the successful caididates are granted certificates at the close of the instruction. Plans are to have our local members mem-bers conduct classes for the remainder re-mainder of the camp when they return. I |
