Twenty-two children enjoyed the lawn party games and picnic luncheon. Mrs. La Verne DeSwan and two daughters, Renne and Dorothy were Sunday visitors at Pine Valley Val-ley and the home of Mr. and Mrs Orson Hall. Mrs. Elizabeth Vaughan Hunt returned Thursday from spending four days at Anderson's ranch. Miss Vmla Wittwer returned Sunday to Las Vegas after visitin-the visitin-the past week with relatives and ineiids in St. George and Washington. Wash-ington. She was a guest while here ol Miss Enid Webb. Kenneth Hirschi and Rocks Cozad were business visitors in Kanab and vicinity on Tuesday and Wednesday' of this week. Mrs. Amnion Lake and three children are leaving today to join Mr. Lake at Buttonwillow, Calif., where he has employment. They expect to reside there for the present. Hilton Jarvis returned Saturday night from spending four days with' relatives in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. D. Wilson Wood-ard Wood-ard are home from Salt Lake City where Mr. Wilson has been attending at-tending school for the past two months at the University of Utah. Mrs. Woodard joined him there recently. Charles Bringhurst was a city visitor from Toquerville last Friday. Fri-day. There will be a cottage meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Mathis this evening under the direction of the St. George stake missionary association at which Walter Pace will repeat, by request, re-quest, his address on the L.D.S. conception of the "Second Coming of Christ." There will also be special musical numbers. Doctor and Mrs. D. Elden Beck and family arrived early Wednesday Wednes-day morning from a three week's tour of California, the Mexican border and Arizona. In Los Angeles they were the guests of Doctor Beck's father, Mitchell L. Beck, a building contractor of that place. Doctor Beck and family are leaving today for Provo to make their home. At the Missionary preparation meeting neiu ciL uie utui ge l. Thompson home Monday night, Mrs. Juanita Brooks attended by special request and gave a paper on the major highlights in the history of Washington County. The Missionary leaders are extending an open request to all returned missionaries to attend these meetings meet-ings which are held every Monday night, and participate in the lectures lec-tures given. Cecil Blake, who has labored for the past nearly two years in the eastern states mission, returned home Tuesday night. He reports ' having thoroughly enjoyed his labors both in the state of Iowa 1 and Michigan and his appreciation ! for the cooperation given him by the folks at home. He also ex-', ex-', tends thanks to the editor for the Washington County News, which ! he states was a welcome visitor during his absence. Leaving Chica-! Chica-! go last Friday, he made only brief 1 stops enroute home. George T. Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Carlysle Thompson and children motored north last Thursday Thurs-day evening. Mrs. Thompson and children remained at Nephi to visit her relatives. The two men went on to Salt Lake on business. They returned late Saturday. Willard Bleak left Sunday morning morn-ing for Pine Valley where he is spending the week with his family, who are there for the summer. The Misses Elethra Johnson, Velma Madsen and Mrs. Cora All-bright All-bright entertained at a miscellaneous miscellane-ous shower last Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Milo Blake, honoring Miss LaReta Lake, who was married Wednesday. |
