Show Boys of Four Wards Given Honors At Scout Honor Program The Scout Honor program held in the south ward chapel last Sunday Sun-day night witnessed the granting of awards to a number of boys from the three local wards as well as some Washington, and a large group of Leeds CCC camp. Names are not available of the latter nor the awards received. These will be given in next issue. The others were reported as follows by B. Glen Smith and Heber Thompson, Thomp-son, scoutmasters: Washington ward scouts receiving receiv-ing merit badges were: Kay Hafen and Elmo Sproul for swimming and path finding; Clair Tanner was given the rank of second Class scout and four boys, Muriel Iver-son, Iver-son, Austin Iverson, Neil Stephens and Paul Judd, the rank of First Class scouts. From the St. George west ward, Wayne Prince received First Class scout award with Bill Cannon and El Myrrle Cox, Second Class. From the south ward. Calvin Cottam was awarded rank of Second Class scout, Stafford Snow. Star scout, and Austin Gentry, rank of Tenderfoot Ten-derfoot scout, with Leon Watson receiving merit badges in horsemanship horse-manship and Dick Klenk in Forestry. For-estry. Four east ward boys were (Continued on page eight) Court Of Honor (Continued rrom first pagei given recognition, Earl Ha fen receiving re-ceiving his Life badge, and merit badges in life saving and swimming swim-ming and camping and Jay Seeg-miller Seeg-miller and Ernest Pulsipher, life saving, swimming and camping, and Wilmer Kemp in pioneering and camping. These four toys assisted by Leo Smith, scoutmaster of the south ward, and Supt. Milton E. Moody as Judge, were principals in the scout play. "The Two Roads" written locally and presented pre-sented under direction of Heber Thompson, east ward scoutmaster. Other numbers on the program included the congregation singing of "America" and "Utah. We Love Thee", vocal duet by George Lytic and Leland Lamoreaux and a solo by Mr. Lamoreaux. Also, impressive impres-sive was the pinning on of badges by mothers of the scouts. |
