Show Good Support Being Given Fruit Festival Group By Businessmen BY M. J. MILES Local business and professional people are coming in with strong support of the Fruit Festival being sponsored by the St. George Chamber of Commerce as their part of the three-day celebration in conjunction with the bewhisker-ed bewhisker-ed Lions and Legionnaires. According to Laron S. Andrus, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, Mayor Albert E. Miller has been appointed chairman of the committee in charge of fruit exhibits and prizes. Chamber of Commerce officers are pleased with the responses coming from local business houses in providing many valuable prizes. They point out that the large number and value of these prizes will make it worth while for all farmers and fruit and vegetable growers to exhibit their products. These prizes are expected to bring out abundant fruit and melons for public consumption, which is scheduled for Saturday evening. September 10, immediately after the evening session of conference. The available prizes will be announced an-nounced as soon as the committee in charge can complete the necessary neces-sary arrangements. This is planned for the afternoon. The Dixie junior college band will be on hand during part of the day to entertain the public. The stake presidency is cooperating co-operating with the Chamber of Commerce by starting the evening session of conference early so as to allow ample time for the Festival Festi-val after the meeting is adjourned. Plans are also made for a Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce dance to follow the feast. |
