Show "Y" Journalism Conference Draws Large List Thirty-eight students and one teacher represented Union High School at the annual Journalism Conference held Oct. 29 at Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University. Faculty adviser attending was Mrs. Blanche Murphy. The student stu-dent newspaper and yearbook were well represented by the editor, ed-itor, associate editor, business manager and other staff members. Roosevelt Junior High School was represented by Mrs. Lenore Hutchings, faculty adviser, and forty students. The delegates exchanged publication publi-cation ideas with 480 representatives representa-tives from 40 high schools and junior colleges of Utah. Technical assistance in editing and advertising adver-tising problems was given in a series of 15 workshop sessions arranged for student newspaper, yearbook and magazine staffs. "The people's right to know made possible by the free press is the key to all other freedoms," the students were told in the conference con-ference keynote address by H. F. Kretchman, editorial writer for the Salt Lake Tribune. He was one of 15 professional editors, photographers, photogra-phers, printers and advertising men who addressed sessions of the conference. |
