Show Work For Ratings The Mt. Emmons Explorers are currently working on their vocational voca-tional rating in Exploring, under the direction of their teacher, Doyle Swallow. Among the requirements re-quirements which the boys must fill in order to qualify in this field are the following: (1) Work at a paid job for 30 days; (2) Develop De-velop a hobby which could become be-come a vocation; (3) Visit three professional' men to find out about their work; (4), Write a paper on the vocation in which they are interested. The Explorers have also al-so taken aptitude tests. The Gleaner class laid aside the lesson book Thursday and went to the Roosevelt LDS Hospital to visit Mrs. Barbee Buchanan. Bar-bee Bar-bee returned to her home' in Altamont Alta-mont Thursday, but will be bedfast bed-fast for several days more. Neighbors Neigh-bors and friends are helping the family out. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Young, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Peel, Bishop and Mrs. Willard Mecham, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mohlman, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Swallow, and Mrs, Rita Hansen attended the wedding dance of Rulon and Ruth Skinner at the Duchesne stake house, Saturday Sat-urday evening. Mr. Peel sang a vocal solo, and Rita Hansen gave a reading for the occasion. RELIEF SOCIETY HELD CONFERENCE SUNDAY Mt. Emmons Relief Society conference con-ference was held Sunday night, March 4. Mrs. Nellie Potts of the stake' Relief Society board was present, and Mrs. Ruth Dastrup conducted the meeting. Mrs. Pearl' Orr was the first speaker, followed by scripture readings by Mrs, Alma Al-ma Young, Mrs. Olive Miles, Mrs. Pearl Case and Mrs. June? Harmon. Following remarks from Bishop Mecham, the Relief Society chorus sang two numbers under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Rita Hansen. About 10 couples from Moon Lake stake, under the direction of Mrs. Louise Bearden, put on a floor show at the M Men and Gleaner Leap-Year dance at Victory Vic-tory Park, Feb. 29. The young people danced "Waltz for a Queen" and "Bumpity Bump." (Too Late For Last Week) Bishop Willard Mecham was one of five from our area to attend the annual meeting in Logan of the Cache Valley Breeding Association Associ-ation on Feb. 16, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Von Atwood and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Miles went to Charleston, Utah, Wed., Feb. 22, for the 50th anniversary observance obser-vance of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Thacker, SCOUTS PASS TESTS Grant Peel took several scouts to Wasatch Springs Plunge fn Salt Lake City Feb. 25, where he helped them pass their swinmming requirements. Lyle Gomm, Gary Hansen. Danny Kolb, Joe Silversmith, Silver-smith, Cl'aire Miller, Ron Miles, Craig Lindsay, James Lindsay and Calvin Powell were those who participated. par-ticipated. TALKS ABOUT 4-H County Agent Bob Murdock spoke on 4-H Club work to a group of 4-H boys at the home of Lawrence Law-rence Young Monday evening, Feb. 27. Present were 4-H leader, Lawrence Young, Assistant leader, Dwane Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hansen, Glade Evans, Dean Evans, Steve Evans, Laird Hartman and Chad Hansen. JOINT BIRTHDAYS Little one-year old Darlene Han-berg Han-berg and her grandfather, Ray Hanberg, were honored on their birthdays Friday, Feb. 24. The entire family was home for the occasion. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blazzard, Cecil and Carol Hanberg, Glendon and Zola Hanberg with Janice and Mike Blazzard, Dwane, Burk and Tim Hanberg, Dale and Rex Hanberg and the honored guests. Following lunch a birthday cake with one candle was served a la mode. The Sophomore class of Altamont Alta-mont High School sponsored a dance Friday night, March 2. Music teacher Grant Peel took a load of students to Vernal Feb. 29 to hear a concert there. Mr. Rasher, saxophone artist, played with the Uintah High School band. VISIT RANGELY PLANT Joe Kemp, Gerald Jacobsen, Ned Mitchell and La Farge Dastrup visited the Rangely Hydro Plant Sat., Feb. 18. The group reported that their findings were very satisfactory. sat-isfactory. Mr, Dastrup believes that many problems that have arisen have been due to lack of understanding between the members mem-bers and their zone dire'etdrs. Wx Dastrup states that since zoning has taken place, it is advisable ad-visable that the consumers of REA keep in closer contact with their director and give him their support. |
