Show Ha!. Mill Levy Asked To Conduc. Water Survey PARLEY NEELEY TO SPEAK AT NEXT GROUP MEET At the annual meeting of the Duchesne County Water Users' Association on Feb. 24, more than 50 men from all parts of Duchesne County went on record requesting the Duchesne county commissioners commission-ers to add a one-half mill levy to the taxes for investigation of small reservoir sites further development de-velopment and study of land that could be watered and made profitable profit-able in this county. This action was taken following the statement by Marion Ross, who said he felt that the development develop-ment projects were so important that money should be' made available avail-able and a tax assessed. A motion was then made , by Lyle L. Young, county commissioner,' commis-sioner,' that the sentiment of the group be heard regarding the using us-ing of money now allocated for water development, and should a levy be made for this purpose. This motion was seconded by Wm. C. Foy of Duchesne. B. O. Colton, water commissioner, commission-er, informed the group that the (Continued on Back Page) HALF MILL LEVY ASKED,. . . (Continued from Page One) Upper Colorado River Development Develop-ment was sponsored last year by Aqualante badges and this year each county would be assessed on the mill levy to financially aid the Colorado River project. He further clarified the using of money levied by counties, and stated that by law a one-half mill could be levied. lev-ied. A one-half mill levy was then included in Commissioner Young's motion and that the money be used by the Duchesne County ,Water Users under the supervision of the county commissioners. The motion was unanimously carried. Loryn , Ross discussed the pos- sibility of hiring one man to investigate in-vestigate the water situation throughout the county. Bill Peatross, Duchesne, stated that he would like to see a committee com-mittee investigate the dam site on the Strawberry in the near future. Jack Nielsen said he was almost sure' the Bureau of Relcamation had topography maps on the potential po-tential dam sites for Duchesne County, under Central Utah. Mr. Carter said he would get in touch with Mr. Neeley and ask him to attend the next meeting of the water users and bring his records re-cords pertaining, to this county's projects. Hale Holgate, Arcadia, Ar-cadia, second vice president; Robert S. Murdock, Roosevelt, secretary-treasurer. Directors are Wm.. R. Peatross, Duchesne; Howard How-ard D. Roberts, Myton; Chester Lyman, Duchesne. Marion Ross, Myton, is the only new officer |
