Show My ton Rancher Dies At 72; Funeral Mar. 7th Wesley E. Burton, 72, died Sunday Sun-day at 2:15 at the Roosevelt Hospital Hos-pital after a lingering illness. He was born March 28, 1883 at Pat-tonsburg, Pat-tonsburg, Missouri, a son of Willis and Lydia Deering Burton. He' received his education in , Missouri and during his early life was employed as a railroad telegrapher teleg-rapher by several railroad companies. com-panies. In 1918 he came to Myton and purchased a large ranch property pro-perty east of town and became prominently known as a farmer and stockman. He operated his property until the time of his death, except for a period from 1922 to 1927 when he was employed em-ployed as a bookkeeper by the Union Pacific Coal Co. at Rock Springs, Wyoming. He' married Esther Holmgren Wallin in Myton, Sept. 10, 1940. During the past four years he had' been in ilL health and a few months ago moved into town and leased his property. Surviving are his widow; two brothers, Harvey Burton of Wheat-ley, Wheat-ley, Missouri and Elwood Burton, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; a nephew, neph-ew, Garland Reed, of Roosevelt; two step-daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kearney of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Vivian Biltz of Midvale, Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Myton My-ton Presbyterian church with Rev. Howard Allen in charge. Interment was in the Myton City Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Mortuary. HOSTS TO DINNER PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Ted Thomas, Sr. were hosts Wednesday evening at the lovely ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Mortensen on South Myton Bench. A delicious dessert lunch was served to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lamb, Mrs. Dorothy Walker of Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Massie of Ft. Duchesne, Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish, Miss Alice Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Mortensen of Myton. Bridge was the evening's eve-ning's diversion with high score and slam prizes awarded to Miss Todd and Mr. Dalgleish. Mrs. J, Wesley Jenson was hostess host-ess at a dessert luncheon, Friday afternoon at her home. Her guest list included Mrs. Floyd Lamb, Mrs. Rex Lamb, Mrs. W. H. Linck, Miss Alice Todd, Mrs. P. E. Church, Mrs. James Dalgleish and Mrs. A. C. Tolboe, Bridge was enjoyed en-joyed during the afternoon with high score prize awarded' to Mrs. Dalgleish. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Linck spent a few days in Salt Lake City last week returning home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Lamb took their small daughter, Connie, to Sait Lake City last week for medical med-ical treatment returning Thursday. Thurs-day. They expect to take her back again this week for further examination. exam-ination. Mr, and Mrs. Howard Gilbert who have been residing in the Lavar Peterson house moved to Tabiona last week. Mr. Gilbert will, take charge' of the ranch property of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nello Hicken, who are moving to Salt Lake City. 1 Charlie Sands came from Vernal' to spend the weekend at his home in Myton returning to his work at Vernal Sunday night. |
