Show Saving Idea At School Devised Principal Doyte Swallow's 6th grade class at Altamont Elementary Elemen-tary School has been participating in an unusual' savings program since December, and each student has just received a 2 interest payment on his account. The students stu-dents save the spending money they receive from home instead of buying candy, etc.. and put it into their account at school. The savings program was devised de-vised as a help in teaching thrift, and to find a practical application for their arithmetic work. As a part of their arithmetic assignments, assign-ments, each student must keep an up-to-date bank statement on his own account, and one of the class account as a whole' and compute his own interest. At the end of April, the students stu-dents will receive another 2 interest in-terest payment on their savings. Mr. Swallow states that other eJementary grades at Altamont have similar savings programs. |
