Show LeetomBeiiiiettf Mrs. Fern Houston Ward Conference Sunday was Sunday School conference, and Ward conference confer-ence in the evening. The stake presidency, and the Sunday School superintendency ' were present. Loman Hutchings gave a very nice talk at Sunday School. At Ward conference, a very nice program was presented. Douglas Phillips was the first speaker, and Albert Harris the second. Mary Margaret Horrocks Hor-rocks sang; Maxine Taylor gave a piano solo', and Mrs. Ralph Purviance sang a vocal solo. Mrs. Carl Unger and Mrs. Ray Wall, of Los Angeles, brought Mrs. Unger's nieces home, who have been spending the summer in Los Angeles. Their mother, Mrs. Ralph Purviance, came from Emporia, Kansas to get the girls. They met at the home of J. A. Houston and visited several days before returning to their respective homes. I Sterling Diamon, of Spring-! ville, was a visitor at the Clair Haslem home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hama-ker Hama-ker received an announcement from the Bill Buckleys that a little girl had come to make her home with them. She will be known as Laura. Mrs. Buckley is the former Ora Hamaker. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Horrocks Hor-rocks motored to Salt Lake City to see her brother, Russell Harrison, Har-rison, who for the past year has been ill. At this time he is very much better. Mrs. John McKowen, of Vernal, Ver-nal, 86, attended a birthday party for her sister, Mrs. Effie Winn, at the home of Mrs. Earl Gardner. A very elaborate dinner din-ner was served, including a cake with 3 tiers and 76 candles. Mrs. McKowen is also visiting her daughters, Mrs. John Bolton Bol-ton and Mrs. Mervin Bolton At the U.B.I.C. baseball game between Ft. Duchesne and Bennett, Ben-nett, the score was 14 to 9 in favor of Bennett. Mrs. Frances Bowen joined the B.Y.U. Trek that left the first of August for the round-trip round-trip from Provo to New York. John Haslem is at Blanding helping to build a home for his son, Lynn. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Warner, of Tooele, have been visiting at the home of his mother, Mrs. John Olsen, and at the home of her brother, Marvin Hamaker. They were here for the U.B.I.C. and returned home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmstoh spent the" weekend at Paradise Park visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morrison. The Morrisons are spending the summer there. Bruce Bowen had the misfortune misfor-tune of running a pitch fork in his leg and getting infection in it. The family of Winfred Long met the Don Palmers at Yellowstone Yellow-stone Park and are spending the week there, after which the Palmers Pal-mers will return here for a short visit before returning to California. The stake presidency, Hollis Hullinger, Russel Todd, Clifford Clif-ford Drollinger and Albert Harris Har-ris were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem, Has-lem, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Scholes were Sunday evening dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Floyd Harmston. Mrs. Margaret Purviance left for her home in Emporia, Kansas, Kan-sas, Monday morning after spending six weeks with the J. A. Houston family. Mrs. Ardath Gray and Patsy and Alan left for Chula Vista, Calif., after having been in Bos. ton visiting with her husband, and here with her parents, the Houstons. |
