Show Funeral Is Friday . . . Tractor-Auto Crash Monday Takes Life Of Royal Ostler ' Funeral services will be held Friday in the Roosevelt stake house, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for Royal Ostler, 15-year old son of Wil- liam and Ruth Lloyd Ostler, of Roosevelt, who was killed in a tractor-auto crash Monday evening. eve-ning. Bishop R. Vernon Larson of the Roosevelt ward will conduct con-duct the services, which will be held at 1 p.m. According to Trooper Sammy Hatch of the Highway Patrol, who investigated, young Ostler was driving the tractor east on Highway 40 about 8:15 p.m. near the Winterton residences south of Roosevelt, when struck by an automobile driven by Howard J. Moffitt, Jr., 23, Duchesne, Du-chesne, who was traveling east also. He was home on leave from Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. After the crash, the tractor traveled 72 feet from point of impact, rolling over several times. The youth apparently fell between the wheels of the vehicle. He was rushed to the Roosevelt LDS Hospital for emergency treatment and being rushed to a Salt Lake hospital when he died east of Bridgeland approximately IV2 hours after the accident. Trooper Hatch said the Moffitt Mof-fitt car skidded approximately 148 feet after striking the rear end of the tractor. The tractor was transformed into a wreckage wreck-age of twisted steel, and the car, a DeSoto, was badly damaged. dam-aged. According to Trooper Hatch, the case has been turned over to the Duchesne county attorney's attor-ney's office for further investigation, investi-gation, before any action is taken tak-en on the disposition of the fatal accident. Roosevelt, where he was graduated from the Roosevelt Roose-velt Junior High School last spring and would have been a sophomore at Union High School this fall. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was recently recent-ly ordained a teacher, and had served in the presidency of the Deacon's quorum in the Roosevelt Roose-velt ward. Besides his parents, he is survived sur-vived by four brothers: Lloyd, -DeVere, John and Gene Ostler, Roosevelt; three grandparents: Mrs. Mary Ostler, Roosevelt, and Mr. and Mrs. William Lloyd of Salt Lake City. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary, Roosevelt, Thursday evening and Friday until time of funeral. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery. |
