Show "I REMEMBER"! BY THE OLD TIMERS t .1 From M. S. Brenser, Middle-town, Middle-town, Pa.: I remember when you wore button shoes and how difficult diffi-cult it was to put them on if the buttonhook became lost. We had to borrow a hairpin to get them through the holes. From Mrs. S. B. Pittman, Jacksonville, Jack-sonville, Texas: I remember 77 years ago when my sister became of school age. There was no other children near us for her to go with. So my father told the schoqj authorities he would send her if they would let me go with her. They consented. We had to walk 2 miles through deep woods. There wasn't even a road. Dad blazed a trail for us. In those days we wore long woolen stockings and high shoes, with skirts long enough to keep our legs warm. From S. I. McGlnnls, Culloden, W. Va. I can remember helping my mother weave rag rugs during the long winter nights when I was a boy. We made our dye to color the rugs from bark. And I remember remem-ber sleeping under the eves of the house and the snow sifting under the eves on to our beds. It seems the winters in those days were much worse than they are now. ien aantrlaatlaaa far IUi aalaaia a Tfca Ola Timer, Cammaal7 Praaa S.rr-laa, S.rr-laa, B.x . JTramkl.rt. Kaataaky.) |
