Show Bountiful Poets 1 Attend State Meet sored the Zara Sabin memorial award given annually, in honor of Zara Sabin the first president of the Bountiful chapter. Dona Hill, president pres-ident elect, presented the awards in this category at the festival. THE BOUNTIFUL Chapter meets both the second Wednesday at 12:30 and the fourth Wednesday at 7 at the Bountiful Library. They welcome all poets to come, learn and share. Sheila Huntington, president of the Bountiful chapter of the Utah .State Poetry Society announces :that members of the Bountiful :Chapter attended the annual State iPoetry awards festival. I THE SPECIAL guest speaker at :the poetry workshop. Miss Irene ;Varsaw gave a very entertaining Speech on "light" or humerous poetry and read several of her own poems from her publications "A Word in Edgewise" and "Warily We Roll Along." She spoke both Friday evening iind at the president's luncheon in the Panorama room at the University Univer-sity of Utah on Saturday, April 20. : AWARDS were given in 29 different diffe-rent categories and winning poetry 'was read. There were over I2(X) entries. Kolette Montague was "iven a special achievement award for her "Originality and freshness" an her poem "Sparrow's Song." : Shannon McNamara was given a 'second honorable mention in the :Newcomers category for her :poem. "Fly for Me." : MAXINE Croft Shreve was given a special President's award for her dedicated service to the Utah State Poetry Society and our local chapter. : The Bountiful Chapter spon- |
