"The Wake of Jamey Foster" centers around an eccentric, small-low small-low n Mississippi family drawn together at the funeral of Jamey : Foster, an alcoholic dreamer who rsuffcred a fatal stroke after a cow kicked his head in one night while ;he was drunk. Jamey's estranged iwife Marshael lays him to rest in Ithe cheapest pine coffin she can Hnd. "Two weeks ago I filed for di-:vorce." di-:vorce." the widow says flatly. ;"and now he pulls a tricklike this. ; You can see 1 view this event with mixed emotions." "MISS HENLEY know s that the underbelly of tragedy is often the comedy of the commonplace." wrote New York Post critic Give Barnes after its opening.
