BLODGETT BOUNTIFUL -- Ten junior high students 14 and 15 years of age have been charged with "possession or distribution of a controlled substance" as a result of two classmates becoming seriously ill after taking the pills, Bountiful Police Chief Larry D. Higgins said this week. "I'M SURE THAT this is an isolated case and that other schools have similar drug problems," the chief said, "but we've got to do what we can to encourage these students to not get involved in taking drugs." Two students from South Davis Junior High were treated and released by paramedics after becoming di.y, nauseated and suffered numbness of their arms and legs. Other students were also treated for milder alter affects, the chief noted. HE SAID 10 students were involved and have been referred to First District Juvenile Court. The substance was described as being capsules ofemphedrinc an antihistamine mixed with catTine, a stimulant.
