Show Festival Of Trees Grows Over Years Repeating their motto, "We want to be your Safe Friends," 33 members of Bountiful Elementary School's safety team were recently sworn in during a school safety assembly. THE SAFETY team has established a tradition of safe behavior and helpful service during the five years it has been a part of the school. The safety team members have earned the respect of faculty fa-culty and fellow students because be-cause their goal has always been to help make the school a safer, better place to be. THE TEAM serves under the direction of faculty safety committee and principal L. Glen Tonge. purchased from "Festival" volunteers or at the door for $2 for adults and 50 cents for chid-lren. chid-lren. MEMBERS of the Women's Endowment Board represent communities from along the Wasatch Front. A holiday tradition of giving a gift of love to needy children began a little over a decade ago with 55 Christmas trees. The trees, donated and decorated by individuals and groups, were put on display and sold to the public. That year $46,000 was raised at the first "Festival "Festiv-al of Trees" to help sick children chil-dren at Primary Children's Medical Center. , TVVF.LVE years later the "Festival" tradition has grown into an enchanted forest ofover 240 uniquely decorated trees. Also featured is a gift boutique stocked with handmade hand-made quilts, Christmas decorations, de-corations, pillows, toys, and stuffed animals. Freshly baked breads, cakes, and rolls, homemade candies, and gingerbread ging-erbread houses can be purchased purch-ased in the Sweet Shoppe. A Small Fry Shop has suckers, suck-ers, popcorn balls and other delightful treats especially priced for a child's budget. HOLIDAY entertainment is provided throughout the "Festival" "Fes-tival" by children's groups, high school madrigals, acap-pella acap-pella choirs, and senior citizen bands. From the beginning the Women's Endowment Board has sponsored the event. This year the board consists of 52 women and is directed by Chairman Barbara Frazier with Thelma Davis and Susan . Ludlow as co-chairmen. In addition, thousands of volunteers volun-teers work to make the "Festival" "Fes-tival" a success. LAST YEAR support from caring, generous people throughout Utah who decorated deco-rated trees, made gifts and sweets, purchased trees, or gave cash contributions to the "Festival" made a substantial contribution for the medical care of needy children at the hospital. The twelfth annual "Festival "Festiv-al of Trees" will unfold in the Salt Palace Exhibition Hall Dec. 1-4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Tickets can be |
